The End of 2011
It's been a pretty eventful year in sports. And when we've gotten around to writing about it, whiskey bottles have been thrown, Tebow jokes have been made, and unmodest trade proposals have been cast into the internet wind.
It's been a year of searching for a fantasy football team name. Writing open letters of apology to the local sports bar, and to distressed Cardinals fans were normal occurrences. There were rants against NCAA elitism, and against Thanksgiving. Or was that in honor of Thanksgiving?
We made arguments about sports, and jokes about NFL Countdown. But somehow they all came back to some quarterback for the Broncos.
The commish brought back the Sporty One Act. We got mad at EA sports for not perfecting Madden, and then unboxed our NES to play Tecmo Super Bowl.
We watched the Pujols deadline evaporate without a dumptruck of money from the Cardinals. Eventually he moved on, so did Cesc Fabregas. Finally, thankfully. We debated the correctness of early criticism for the atrocities at Penn State. We even spent too long deciding if rookie quarterbacks should sit or start while naming the segments after Zeppelin songs. (1,2,3)
Plus our annual review of Peyton in the playoffs and the Ultimate Super Bowl Trivia quiz made their return. It's been a long year. We look forward to next year, when hopefully the Manchester teams don't get eliminated from the Champions League.
